The Woman and the Rooster

Created by Karen Dulkhanyan, this AKNEYE is the recreation of a famous piece by Yervand Kochar. Assumed to be a self-portrait of the contemporary sculptor and artist, the Woman and the Rooster was painted in 1930. The painting combines mythology and the artist's modern era by portraying a half-male character giving three seeds to a Gallic rooster. The lying figure is the representation of the artist himself and the seeds are his discoveries while the rooster symbolises France, where Kochar lived for 13 years. The rooster looks hesitant as the prophetic character seems to be unsure of his true identity.
